AWANA's Booker Club Big Success
The missionary focus of Awana's Booker Bear Book CLub this year was the Open House Family Shelter in Vancouver. Due to the very generous contributions of sponsors and hard work of many readers more that $700.00 was given! Twenty-four sponsors and readers had a joyful time shopping at Wal Mart for bear-necessities and birthday gifts for children at Open House, Saturday April 25th. The group continued on to Open House where the gifts were made available to residents, and everyone enjoyed pizza and punch with some of the residents at Open house.
A not-to-be forgotten memory is of little Bella, soon to be four. She was so thrilled that among our purchases was a pair of pink filp-flops just her size. Seeing some of our kids pushing a shopping cart full of "stuff" to the car after shopping is another special memory.
Mikie Clark earned money between our first and second trip to Open House so he could personally buy things for kids at Open House. Between them, Abby and Emily Banholzer and Danielle Luiz read 46 books!!
A huge thank you to all the sponsors and readers whose participation made this our most amazing, spirit guided, never to be forgotten book club.
